Math Tips parents can use to help students:

*Encourage math in day to day activities. Even little things such as " How many plates are at the table?" can encourage your child to use their math skills.
*Be involved with your students homework and check it regularly. Communicate often with your students teacher if they are having difficulties.

*Allow your child to do their own homework and try problems on their own. Interfering too much can cause them to become dependent on you and not learn to the best of their ability.
*Be aware of how your child is being taught at school and try to enforce those techniques at home. Teaching them different techniques that they are'nt using in school may confuse them.
*Set aside a specific homework time and space so your child gets in the habit of doing focusing on their homework.

*At the beginning of the year ask your child's teacher for suggestions on what you can do to foster learning.
*Incorporate math learning in the summer months so your student does not forget what he/she learned the previous year. You can do this by printing out worksheets or have your child play math games online.
